To whom it may concern

I, Lilith of the fifth circle of the school of magi, wish for a few individuals to aid me on a particular quest of utmost ease and importance. A certain instrument of measurement was stolen from my office some days ago and I have word that it has ended up in the inventory of a library located on the pocket plane of Infomacian. I need some bright eyed adventurers to make their way into the library and snatch my device from the clutches of the hoarders of knowledge. No need for fighting or brawling; simply bring the instrument back to me and you will be rewarded.

The pocket plane of Infomacian is a delicately balanced prison and home to Na, a god-like entity that feeds and thrives off the collection of information and intelligence. While most entities of this nature believe in the spread and sharing of all knowledge, Na thinks that it is a precious treasure to be hoarded and kept to oneself for exploitation and power. This vast but secret well of power manifests itself in Na’s Library, a twisted metaphysical maze filled with books and bits made of wonder and information. But beware this demi plane is a place of mystic entities and will slowly suck a person dry of their intelligence and make them lose themselves if they linger too long in the haze.

Lilith of the fifth circle of the school of magi will tell the party none of that, infact she will keep as many cards close to her chest as possible requiring multiple rolls to pry any real information from. The party will find her within The Spire, a looming magically infused wizards tower at the center of the School of Magi she works at. After seeking her out she will present herself as the 5th most powerful person at the school and keep things short with the party. She invented an instrument that can measure the pressure of the weave and things pulling on the pressure, essentially creating a device that can locate the source magic through the weave itself. However, one of her students stole this device and donated it to a library in another plane. She is requesting that the party allow her to teleport them to that plane, retrieve the object and then use a device she will give them to teleport home.

In reality what has happened is a student who is also a zellot of Na was instructed by him to steal the instrument and bring it to him in exchange for the knowledge he needs to pass his classes. It is now locked away in the Instruments Vault of his demi plane for his use and his alone.

Once the party is teleported into the demiplane, on entrance they will be stript of their armor and weapons in exchange for simple acolyte robes, unless a party member is already wearing magi robes which will stay. Read this to the PCs

When your eyes finally open you are met with a beautiful yet slightly ominous scene. The air is thick and laced with magic as you all stand in a small entryway with a few chairs and a large marble fountain in the center that leads into bookshelves that stretch infinitely into the darkness. On the fountain there is a small plaque that reads “The fountain of clarity, drink from these to clear your mind of what ails you and refocus of the task at hand”

The objective of the party is to locate the instrument, retrieve it, and teleport back to the tower with the teleportation crystal. Since Na is no longer allowed to have a physical form he will use magic and his zealots that are trapped in the library to try and stop them. Along with these deterrents there is the constraint pressure of the magic in the air, and effect called Knowledge Diffusion. This magic slowly eats away and invades the mind of weaker beings to manipulate their thoughts, confuse their judgment, and ultimately trap them in the library like so many before. The PCs can remove all of of the effects of this by drinking water from the periodic fountains of clarity that are scattered throughout the library that were originally used to lengthen study times by scholars. See the table below for suggested issues and encounters they could face.
